Role: Packaging Design Intern Location: Austell, GA Reports to: Design Manager   OVERVIEW At Pratt Industries, we believe in crafting careers that tick all the boxes.We are seeking a motivated and creative Packaging Design Intern to join our team. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in the world of product packaging, contributing to the visual and structural integrity of our corrugated products. The intern will work closely with our senior designers and cross-functional teams to develop, refine, and implement innovative packaging solutions that align with our brand identity and sustainability goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Packaging Design Intern will assist the design team with the following: * Design Support: Assist in the conceptualization and development of packaging artwork, structural designs, and mock-ups for new and existing products. * Production Preparation: Prepare and finalize production-ready mechanical files, ensuring accuracy, proper dielines, color specifications, and print fidelity. * Research & Ideation: Conduct research on current packaging trends, materials, sustainability initiatives, and competitor analysis to inform design decisions. * Prototyping: Create physical prototypes and samples for internal review and testing, including cutting, scoring, and assembly. * Documentation: Organize and maintain the design asset library, including dielines, specifications, and version control for packaging files. * Collaboration: Participate in design critiques, brainstorming sessions, and meetings with cross-functional teams. * Quality Assurance: Review printer proofs and initial production samples to ensure design intent and quality standards are met. QUALIFICATIONS * Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Packaging Science, or a related field. * Proficiency in design software, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). * Fundamental understanding of printing processes (e.g., lithography, flexography) and packaging materials. * Excellent visual communication, organizational, and time management skills. * Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a team environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS   * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.  * The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. * The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.   WORK ENVIRONMENT   * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  * The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.   * The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.  * The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS * Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity.  Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee. * Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual.  Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior. * Employee relations - through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication. * Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
