Description

We are looking for a talented Packaging Engineer- Senior to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Corporate organization in Seymour, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: * Drive effective packaging and container system designs by applying specialized engineering expertise throughout the full product lifecycle. * Collaborate cross-functionally and with customers/suppliers to define clear design requirements for expendable and returnable packaging solutions. * Identify and implement improvements that enhance packaging quality, reduce total cost, and minimize waste in alignment with organizational goals. * Determine optimal returnable container fleet sizing through coordination with logistics, inventory, and operations teams. * Develop site‑specific packaging requirements that align with Cummins Global Packaging Standards, safety guidelines, storage needs, and line‑side presentation requirements. * Ensure supplier adherence to packaging specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements for both inbound and outbound shipments. * Support Indirect Purchasing by providing technical guidance during packaging procurement initiatives to ensure cost‑effective, compliant solutions. * Leverage strong business acumen and continuous development to drive sound decision‑making, cost‑based analysis, and consistent operational results.
