POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and experienced Service Engineer to help us expand our rapidly growing packaging business, and particularly our unique and patented Rapid Bander® and Rapid Roper Plus® stretch wrap material/system solution.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of work experience in a hands-on technical/maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with automated packaging equipment such as stretch wrap machines, box erectors, tape machines and form fill and seal equipment.
  • Mechanical and Fabrication Skills:
  • Machine Assembly, Adjustment & Component Replacement – Ability to disassemble, replace, and align mechanical components, including belts, chains, bearings, gears, rollers, and tensioning systems, to ensure proper operation.
  • Using Hand & Power Tools – Proficiency with wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, drills, grinders, and reciprocating saws for repair and modification work.
  • Metal Cutting, Drilling & Tapping – Ability to cut metal plates, drill holes, and tap threads for bolts and fasteners when modifying equipment, ensuring proper clearance for moving parts to prevent interference.
  • Electric Skills:
  • Reading Electrical Schematics & Wiring Diagrams – Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, control panel layouts, and wiring schematics to locate and diagnose electrical issues.
  • Using a Multimeter for Troubleshooting – Proficiency in measuring voltage, current, resistance, and continuity to identify faults in circuits, sensors, and motors.
  • Understanding Relays, Contactors, and Fuses – Ability to diagnose and replace burnt contacts, faulty relays, and blown fuses in control panels.
  • Working with Sensors & Switches – Troubleshooting photoelectric sensors, proximity switches, and limit switches to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Understanding Electrical Safety & Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) – Knowledge of arc flash risks, PPE requirements, and safe de-energizing procedures when working on live equipment.
  • Familiarity with iPad applications and basic computer skills using Microsoft Office software and email.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external communications.
  • Driven and dedicated with a willingness to work hard and occasionally long hours as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, ability to set and prioritize tasks, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as much as 4 times per month for approximately 2-3 nights at a time and occasionally on weekends.
  • Ability to work in factory or industrial environments, exposure to heat, cold, and noise, and wearing various personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Able to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly, walk long distances, bending, reaching, kneeling, etc. as required to work on equipment in tight spaces.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience installing and maintaining stretch wrap machines from the following manufacturers: Wulftec, Lantech, Octopus, Kaufman and Orion.
  • Experience with installing and servicing box erectors, tape machines and form fill and seal equipment.
  • Experience replacing and troubleshooting VHDs, including setting parameters and diagnosing fault codes.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLC programs/ladder logic.
  • Technical or University Degree
  • Welding ability

Responsibilities
  • Handle all installations for The Rapid Bander® and Rapid Roper Plus® systems.
  • Fabricate customized apparatus components for unique system installations.
  • Assist sales personnel with Rapid Bander and Rapid Roper Plus® system demonstrations at customer sites and after sales support.
  • Work with stretch wrap systems manufacturers on custom installations that are compatible with semi and/or fully automated pallet wrapping lines that can include conveyors and other essential and adjunct processing line components.
  • Providing operator training to teach customers how to properly use, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent issues.
  • Handling Service Reports & Documentation – Writing clear, concise reports on service work performed, issues identified, and recommendations to keep customers and internal teams informed.
  • Maintaining Customer Relationships – Building trust by providing consistent, high-quality service, following up on past issues, proactively addressing concerns, and staying professional and solution-focused when dealing with frustrated customers experiencing equipment failures or downtime.
  • Ensure customers are correctly charged for services and parts.
  • Schedule and conduct Rapid Bander® system performance audits.
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers of equipment to purchase parts and submit warranty claims.
  • Solicit new customers by promoting our service capabilities, including our scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Expeditiously respond to the service and repair needs of customers.
  • Be available for immediate communication with customers, salespeople or the office.
  • Maintain professional appearance and communication standards with all company and customer personnel.
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure their satisfaction with the services provided.
  • Coordinate with sales personnel and customers to schedule service calls quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of tools, supplies and parts.
  • Travel to customer locations for service calls. This may include overnight travel by vehicle or air, and occasionally on weekends as required by customers.
