Description The Packaing Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring all operators are properly trained, positioned, and equipped to make sure we can produce quality products safely and at maximum efficiency. The Shift Lead acts as a role model with process and safety protocols, and demonstrates excellent accountability and partnership to proactively communicate and problem solve while independently completing daily tasks. Shift Lead Opportunities: (Please specify which position you're interested in when answering the screening questions): Monday - Wednesday NIGHTS (5pm-5:30am) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works in compliance with Food Safety Management System and GMP's All duties on packaging team member job description Check and respond to emails daily and attend required meetings Responsible for canning kombucha products to company standards Responsible for leading safe operating packaging machines Lead, direct and train all packaging staff, in SOP’s and daily operation. Evaluate SOP efficiency and update or create as necessary Lead and support staff in company culture, core values and communication Work cross-departmentally to achieve packaging goals Lead the team in a methodical and organized manner to achieve daily production goals Be accountable for batch ticket completion and accuracy and proper tank hookups per the schedule Lead and perform start up, shut down, clean up and CIP Lead and perform one-off special projects as needed Daily check to confirm previous day's workload completion Daily communication with Packaging Supervisor including end of day report Maximizing efficiency of the production team and transitioning operations. Identify, discuss, and implement new processes to increase productivity, reduce cost, and improve cycle time. Work independently and with self-direction seeking assistance when needed Making sure the staff has all the required materials (pallets, labels, caps, tape, etc.) to perform the duties efficiently and easily. Oversee safety and compliance with all safety protocols by the staff Support scheduling in day to day operation as needed Can work in place of Packaging Operators as needed Can support the bottling line as needed ____________________________________________________________________________________ Requirements Strong time management abilities with the ability to multi-task Ability to balance the outcome with the current task Experience in basic manufacturing protocols/operations and sanitization preferably in a food or beverage operation. Forklift certified, or ability to obtain within first 60 days Basic mechanical aptitude, including skills with hand tools and operating machine tools Basic knowledge using Microsoft office and internet Ability to work weekends, holidays evening and on call shifts Previous leadership experience, preferred Ability to problem-solve and prioritize tasks to overcome variable constraints Ability to act as a role model in all situations Must be good at finding solutions, process improvement, building interpersonal relationships with cross-functional team members. ____________________________________________________________________________________ WORKING CONDITIONS: Full time Days, Nights, weekends, holidays Shift coverage that could be day, night or swing May be exposed to acids, caustics and cleaning products Noisy and active Production floor Repetitive tasks in production line setting in a moist/humid environment Ability to handle pallets that weigh up to 2,100 lbs using a pallet jack.
