Packaging Engineering is looking for a Design & Planning Engineer to support Ford Blue, Model-E and Ford Pro Powertrain and Vehicle Operations new model programs. The successful candidate must have a passion for automobiles and manufacturing and can develop cross-functional solutions to complex problems. Packaging Design & Planning engineers lead Ford in 3D CAD and PLM capability and can rapidly generate vehicle design alternatives to solve packaging and material flow challenges. Our engineers have a strong attention to detail and the ability to retain intricate details, from memory, across several programs. You must be willing to maintain a can-do attitude with very limited inputs and use deductive reasoning and industry trends to develop accurate forecasts for early milestones. Responsibilities: Identify, forecast, and optimize capital spending for new model programs based on limited inputs Work extensively with the Packaging Engineering Implementation teams, Material Flow, Material Logistics, Vehicle Operations, Manufacturing, Stamping, Ergonomics, Product Development, and the Design Studio to achieve lowest total cost solutions Act as the single point of contact for Packaging Engineering, for your assigned studies, including coordinating department responses and internal reviews Support all study meetings, including program milestone and touchpoint reviews, and be comfortable presenting/explaining cost drivers and opportunities to upper management Develop feasible, affordable, best-in-class, container concepts (3D models) using 3DX, CATIA and other proprietary tools Following program approval, develop and present handoff materials to direct the Packaging Implementation teams on the approved plan of action and allocated finances Drive improvements in pack density and container design to achieve MP&L freight and investment efficiency objectives Develop new tools and methods to identify and predict trends to ensure accurate forecasts from pre- to milestones You'll have... Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Packaging or Supply Chain or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education. This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $72,480-121,440. This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $84,480-141,360. This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720-162,120.
