Description:

Packaging Supervisor
Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have two state-of-the-art potato processing plants in PEI, one in Lethbridge, AB and another in Jamestown, ND. Headquartered in Dieppe, NB, the company also operates an appetizer plant in Wheatley, ON and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.
Reporting to the Production Manager at the Wheatley plant, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated, result driven individual who can thrive in a fast paced, ever changing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism. The job incumbent will directly supervise unionized employees. This position requires interaction with all departments within Cavendish Farms.

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with associates and employees. Candidates must have:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative;
  • Working experience with HACCP and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Bachelors degree in one of the following disciplines: agriculture, food science, business, engineering, or operations management;
  • 2 or more years of packaging experience in a food processing industry;
  • Minimum two years of related supervisory experience in a unionized environmen

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize equipment, supplies and personnel to maximize productivity.
  • Meet production output targets including recovery and volume.
  • Identify continuous improvements in methods and controls for the operation.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to employees to ensure that standard operating procedures are understood and followed.
  • Document and maintain accurate records with respect to employee performance, product quality, production/downtime reporting, health and safety, and attendance.
  • Develop, lead and coach employees through effective training and recognition
  • Keep employee’s informed; support efforts of all teams, communicate all changes likely to affect individuals
  • Ensure compliance to Government regulations and Company policies for HACCP, Sanitation, and Safety.
