WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Please note that this role involves working in a chilled environment, as many of our food products require cold storage to maintain freshness and safety. The packing area is kept at a low temperature throughout the shift (typically around 0–5°C). Appropriate PPE (e.g., warm workwear, gloves, and protective footwear) will be provided. Candidates must be comfortable working in colder conditions and able to maintain focus and efficiency in this environment

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The Packing Assistant Manager supports the Packing Manager in overseeing daily packing operations to ensure all products are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately, safely, and efficiently. This role includes team supervision, quality control, and coordination of resources to meet production and delivery targets, while upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Packing Manager in leading and supervising the packing team
  • Ensure all customer orders are packed accurately and efficiently
  • Monitor team performance and maintain a steady, productive workflow
  • Train and support team members on proper packing procedures and hygiene standards
  • Enforce all food safety regulations and hygiene practices, including HACCP compliance
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Help set up the packing area at the beginning of each shift
  • Support shift planning and provide cover for staff absences or holidays where needed
  • Monitor packaging material stock levels and communicate replenishment needs
  • Investigate and resolve packing errors to maintain quality standards
  • Coordinate with Production, Logistics, and Quality Control teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Perform hands-on packing duties when required
  • Ensure accurate completion of order paperwork and documentation
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive working environment
  • Be flexible to cover shifts during manager absence, sickness or holidays (where reasonable)
