JOB SUMMARY The Packing House Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operations of our packing house. This role involves managing staff, coordinating work processes, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe work environment. Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Staff Management: Recruit, hire, and train packing house staff. Assign tasks and supervise employees to ensure efficient workflow. Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback. Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts. Operations Management: Coordinate the unloading, sorting, washing, and packaging of products. Ensure that products meet quality standards and comply with Pero Family Farms and FDA regulatory requirements. Optimize packing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure product integrity. Inspect products for defects and take corrective action as needed. Maintain records of quality control inspections. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards. Conduct safety inspections and implement safety training programs. Investigate accidents and incidents to prevent recurrence. Facility Management: Maintain the packing house in a clean and organized condition. Coordinate maintenance and repairs of equipment. Manage inventory of packing supplies and equipment. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in packing house management or supervision preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Flexibility to work weekends and variable hours. Required to travel to seasonal work locations (Delray, Alachua, FL, Brant, NY, Parrish, FL, Omega, GA). WORKING CONDITIONS This position operates primarily in a packing house and production facility environment, which may be cold, wet, and noisy. The role requires frequent presence on the production floor to monitor operations, inspect product quality, and oversee staff activities. Exposure to varying temperatures (45 degrees or less), humidity, and strong odors associated with fresh produce is common. Work hours may extend beyond standard business hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as production schedules require. Travel is required to seasonal packing and production facilities in Delray Beach, FL; Alachua, FL; Parrish, FL; Brant, NY; and Omega, GA, which may involve extended stays. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods while on the production floor. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent movement between office and production areas is required. Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, etc.) and occasionally operate or inspect production machinery. Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to inspect products, review documentation, and monitor operations. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, hairnets, and masks as necessary. Ability to respond quickly to operational or safety issues, including walking through large production and storage areas.
