The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns. POSITION SUMMARY: Functions as PACS Assistant. Interacts daily with patients, Physicians’ and physician office staff members in order to meet their individual needs for Medical Imaging reports and images. Run daily reports including PACS list, check Syngo to confirm crossover of all images, release images, obtain proper release authorization, monitor and make corrections on workstation, register patient, arrive patient in to MediTech Client, obtain orders for studies, answer phone with proper phone etiquette, prepare packet for procedure, duties, troubleshoots issues relating to PACs and shares the responsibility with co-workers for daily system log follow the philosophy, policies, procedures and protocols of Eastern Connecticut Health Network and the Medical Imaging Department, supports Physicians and coworkers in the utilization of PACs. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the Medical Imaging department workflow. Provides coverage after hour’s on-call for PACs on a rotating basis. COMPETENCIES Able to speak and write English fluently, bilingual language skills a plus. These responsibilities and competencies listed below may change from time to time Job Specific Competency 2. Assists the Radiologists, referring physicians, and staff in the execution of their duties by acting as a resource person for effective use of PACs and Meditech. 3. Processes requests from patients and physicians offices for image release. Prepare and make CDs/films for distribution in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Obtain proper release forms. 4. Resolves unread studies log (incomplete list) and trouble shoots exam problems in order to meet established turnaround times. Documents resolution of issues. 5. Working knowledge of QA workstations. Ability to make correction to patient studies. 6. Demonstrates knowledge of the Meditech RIS system, Syngo PACs system, and Power Scribe interface to access reports and other patient or exam data. 7. Verifies the proper operation of the PACs PCs in clinical areas in accordance to policy. 8. Assists users including technical staff and referring physicians with usage of Syngo. 9. Run daily report to confirm crossover of all studies from all modalities to Syngo. 10. Maintains effective workflow within the work environment to assure that daily duties are complete. 11. Works cooperatively and exhibits Core Values at all time in order to accomplish all tasks as a member of the Medical Imaging Team. 12. Arrive, register, patients for all modalities. Prepare all needed forms, packets for procedures. 13. Answer phone, operate fax, copier. 14. Obtain and verify orders from referring providers. 15. Support office sites. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School graduate or GED equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Must be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and the department’s computerized system and its associated devices and have at least one (1) year of prior experience in HHC's Radiology Department is preferred. Must be knowledgeable of workflow within the Radiology Department and understand the various modalities. Responsibilities
The PACS Assistant functions daily by interacting with patients and physicians' offices to fulfill needs for medical imaging reports and images, running daily reports, confirming image crossover, and releasing images. Duties also include troubleshooting PACS issues, registering patients in MediTech, obtaining orders, preparing procedure packets, and sharing responsibility for daily system logs.
