Description

Guiding Light Autism Services is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Pediatric Occupational Therapist at our Oakville location. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide a variety of services including assessment; development and monitoring of individualized service plans for children and youths with special needs; education for parents, community support; and assistance to families and clients to transition successfully from one setting to another.
Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services and as a member of the senior clinical team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Registered with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists.
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience working with children with ASD.
  • Experience overseeing a caseload of 8+ clients.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based occupational therapy treatment approaches and data collection procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Well-developed clinical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Strong Organizational Skills

Responsibilities
  • Provide sensory and fine motor assessment and intervention for children who present with a broad range of functional concern.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy services to pediatric clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental challenges.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans based on client assessment.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistant that works out of all three (3) Guiding Light clinics.
  • Manage an assigned caseload and contribute to the quality of care to clients through adherence to the professional standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Support client families by providing individual and group training and resources to parents that will support the development of skills at home.
  • Maintain regular contact with client families and keep them informed of treatment plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive physical and psychological assessments to determine clients needs.
  • Continuously assess and adjust treatment plans by analyzing progress and modifying interventions as necessary.
  • Collaborate and communicate with interdisciplinary team members regarding client progress.
  • Design and provide training to families and caregivers to support therapy continuation at home.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client progress, treatment plans and assessments.
