JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Specialist Pharmacist with a strong background in Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) to support a major digital transformation programme within an NHS Acute Trust . This role will play a key part in shaping and implementing paediatric dose range checking as part of the wider EPMA delivery.
Working closely with clinical, digital and pharmacy teams, the successful candidate will help design safe, accurate, and effective prescribing workflows tailored to paediatric care, ensuring alignment with national standards and Trust-specific protocols

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Substantial experience working as a Paediatric Pharmacist within an NHS Acute setting.
  • Proven experience supporting or delivering EPMA implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of paediatric pharmacology, including weight-based dosing and safety considerations.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, medicines optimisation, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of clinical applications and EHR/EMR platforms (Epic, NerveCentre, Cerner, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operational models.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to clinical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and configuration of paediatric dose range checking within the EPMA system.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, paediatric, and digital teams to define safe and clinically appropriate dose ranges.
  • Provide expert clinical input on medicines management and prescribing processes for paediatrics.
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of EPMA workflows and functionalities.
  • Contribute to change management and user adoption activities, including training and clinical engagement.
  • Liaise with EPMA suppliers, Trust digital leads, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure system build meets paediatric safety and quality standards.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to paediatric e-prescribing.
  • Ensure compliance with NICE, MHRA, RCPCH and relevant national guidance and safety alerts.
