Responsibilities

As a Speech Pathologist at Geelong Neuro Centre, you will work alongside a creative, supportive and dedicated multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Therapy Assistants, providing therapy in the centre, community and home environment. We pride ourselves on client-centred, evidence based and progressive therapy interventions, including but not limited to:

  • Swallowing and feeding assessments and retraining including use of EMST and IMST.
  • Communication assessment and intervention, including speech, language, voice and social communication.
  • Cognitive-communication assessment therapy, as well as having access to the Functional Assessment of Verbal Reasoning and Executive Strategies assessment (FAVRES).
  • AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) – assessment, setup and training of high- and low-tech systems. At GNC we have the full suite of Control Bionics AAC devices including Uno Touch, Eye Gaze and Neuronode to trial with our clients.
  • Access to a range of assessments including Oral Motor Assessments, Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, CELF-5 language assessment, Peter and the Cat Narrative assessment, Fischer Atkin Articulation Survey, DEAP assessment, pragmatics profiles, Renfrew Action Picture Test, Bus Story, the Adolescent and Adult Goal Setting Tool (AAGST) and more!
  • Opportunity to facilitate paediatric groups such as our School Readiness Group and social skills groups.
  • Opportunity to be involved in our Infant Clinic.
  • Completion of one off assessments to guide further treatment and diagnosis
  • A speech dedicated resource cupboard filled with assessments, technology devices, play activities, card and boardgames, speech and language stimulation activities, and visual aids.

You will be working with a number of funding bodies including NDIS, private and TAC. It is desirable to have experience working with NDIS and other compensable clients, but certainly not essential.
