MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 7:30AM - 3:30PM Position Summary The PAES (Practical Assessment Exploration System) Lab Teacher provides structured, hands-on vocational instruction and assessment for students with disabilities. The teacher uses the PAES curriculum to evaluate students’ employability skills across multiple vocational areas, support career exploration, and prepare students for postsecondary employment, training, or supported work environments. This role emphasizes skill development, work behaviors, safety, and individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Implement the PAES Lab curriculum with fidelity across all vocational assessment areas (e.g., Consumer/Service, Construction/Industrial, Processing/Production, Business/Marketing, and Computer/Technology as applicable). * Assess students’ work-related skills, behaviors, and interests using PAES materials, data collection tools, and observation. * Provide direct instruction in employability skills, including task completion, following directions, time management, workplace safety, and appropriate work behaviors. * Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs, abilities, and learning styles. * Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive lab environment that mirrors real-world work settings. * Collect, document, and analyze student performance data to inform instruction and progress monitoring. * Contribute assessment results and recommendations to IEPs, transition plans, and vocational planning meetings. * Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, job coaches, and administrators. * Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, strengths, and vocational interests. * Support students in developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. * Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal special education requirements. * Participate in professional development related to transition services, vocational education, and special education best practices. * Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and program needs. Qualifications Required * Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Career-Technical Education, or a related field. * Valid state teaching license/certification appropriate for the position. * Knowledge of transition planning and vocational assessment for students with disabilities. * Ability to manage a classroom/lab environment with diverse learning and behavioral needs. Preferred * Experience implementing the PAES Lab curriculum. * Background in vocational education, transition services, or workforce development. * Experience working with students with moderate to significant disabilities. * Training in data-driven instruction and progress monitoring.
