Description Join the Fremont Public Library in Mundelein as a Page! The Page uses their skills to shelve, retrieve and organize materials, neaten the department by cleaning or straightening toys and equipment, and generally assist in presenting an area that is easy to navigate and a pleasure to use. This is one of the most crucial roles in the library; a misplaced book is a lost book. This is a great job for high school and college students! You must be at least 16 years old to work the required hours. Required Hours: 12 hours per week; Mondays from 5PM - 9PM, Wednesdays from 5PM - 9PM and Sundays from 1PM - 5PM. Pay & Benefits: $15 per hour. Paid leave and sick time included. Detailed Duties: Takes carts of materials from circulation to their proper locations in the library and shelves them as indicated by the materials’ format and labels. Straightens and reorders shelves and shifts materials appropriately as needed. Retrieves materials from holds lists and for the collection management needs of librarians. Answers directional questions from patrons but refers them to the appropriate service desk when a more detailed answer is required. Informs service desk staff of any patron or building issues seen while working in the library. Maintains an orderly appearance of assigned department, helping to organize or clean equipment, toys, white boards, and other parts of the public areas. Counts materials or other Continually develops a working knowledge of the library collection and its organization. Reports to the Page Supervisor and seeks direction from other persons in charge of shift. Works with pages from other departments, and may shelve or work in other departments as needed. Requirements Meets the minimum age requirements for employment under State and Federal regulations. Fluent in English, both oral and written. Customer service-oriented with a positive attitude towards patrons as well as co-workers. Detail-oriented and self-motivated. Able to work independently and efficiently. Able to alphabetize beyond 3 letters and arrange numerically according to the Dewey Decimal System. Able to use cleaning products as directed (gloves and other equipment available). Physical Requirements: All following duties are repetitive and constant during the 3- to 4-hour work shift: Standing & walking with very little to no sitting involved. Bending, stooping and twisting to retrieve and place objects from place to place. Grasping using the entire hand and arm strength to carry & place objects. Reaching above shoulder to place, shift, and retrieve materials on high shelves. Light lifting and carrying: raising and/or moving objects between 5-25 pounds. Pushing/pulling a cart on wheels weighing as much as 100 pounds. Repetitive motion of hands, arms, legs, and torso. Visual: able to detect color coding of materials. Communication: Fluent in English, able to speak with fellow co-workers and patrons, able to receive instruction and questions from patrons.
