Description Position Summary: Repairs, refurbishes, paints and decals Company trucks, trailer, cars, forklifts as needed. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Trouble shoots, repairs, replaces or ensures the repair of paint/body damage Diagnoses paint/body damage, determines supplies needed and orders through the parts room Paints or ensures the painting of all Company forklifts Repairs, refurbishes, or ensures the repair/refurbishment (by welding) of aluminum/steel floors/bumpers, mud flap brackets, brazings and other parts on trucks, trailer, forklifts, tow motors, golf cart trailers as needed In preparation for painting: Performs or ensures the performance of blocking, sanding and feathering. Ensures all cracks are welded, vehicle is cleaned with air hose, tape is used as needed, and vehicle is wiped down Prepares or ensures the preparation of vehicles for body shop Repairs or ensures the repair of all items not meeting DOT requirements; informs supervisor if not immediately repairable Assists Lead Paint & Body Technician in the preparation of preplanned 40-hour schedules for Paint/Body Repair Technicians Strictly enforces and adheres to strict safe working practices, Company policies, rules, regulations, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports to supervisor if not immediately correctable Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent Automotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification preferred 3+ years of paint and body repair experience Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude is a plus Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and driving record within MVR policy guidelines Must supply automotive hand tools (not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools) Experience with HVLP paint procedures Some fabrication and welding ability preferred Physical Requirement: Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus) Frequent climbing, pushing, pulling and maneuvering dolly, hand truck, bay roll up doors, straps, curb ramps, truck doors, boxes, cases, kegs, truck gear shift Ability to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds Ability to move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to inspect and or wash vehicles Ability to communicate verbally and in writing Ability to hear voice commands in areas with a high level of background noise Ability to demonstrate or learn to safely handle large trucks in a critically safe and precise manner within very constrained and compact Working Conditions: All weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet and snow Daylight, twilight, evening and dark lighting conditions Noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes Work hours will vary daily due to business needs All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
