Qualifications Position Summary: Under general supervision, this position is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining the quality of painted surfaces on products or components. This role ensures that painting processes meet established quality standards and customer specifications, identifying defects and working with production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions. Essential Functions of the Job: Inspect painted surfaces for quality issues such as runs, fisheyes, dirt inclusions, or color mismatches. Inspect all metal components for rust or surface defects pritor to painting; sand and prepare parts as needed. Use tools such as thickness gauges, microscopes, and color spectrometers to assess coating characteristics. Ensure grounding equipment is correctly connected for all booths; verify proper gouding for hooks and surfaces before painting. Conduct regular audits of the paint process and finished products. Record and analyze defect data to identify trends and recommend process improvements. Work closely with the paint line, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and quality documentation. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations regarding paint use and handling. Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes. Participate in product launch, testing, and validation processes related to paint quality. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s): Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, color standards, and specifications. Able to use precision measuring equipment including tape measure, square, calipers, gauges and micrometers. Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Computer data entry and retrieval skills with Microsoft.   Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED certificate required. Experience in a paint shop or quality inspection environment. Knowledge of painting process such as powder coating, wet spray, or electrostatic painting is a a plus.   Working Conditions: Exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and other general production environment. Frequent standing and walking on concrete surface. Ability to work days, nights, weekends and overtime as needed.   Notes: Working knowledge of ISO documentation is a plus.
