Description SUMMARY Under general supervision, is responsible for performing a wide range of painting/finishing trade procedures. Produces high quality work product that demonstrates attention to detail. Performs a wide variety of maintenance tasks to ensure buildings and grounds of agency properties are maintained in an appropriate and safe manner in the Agency’s residential facilities. Helps create a homelike atmosphere for residents in an agency facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Painter/Maintenance Worker will include, but are not limited to the following: Performs maintenance tasks as assigned or designated, including but not limited to painting Works in a neat workmanlike manner. Taking care to protect work area and leave a good quality work product Maintains inventory of necessary tools, equipment and materials. May perform other maintenance related work other then painting as requested by Facilities Manager Keeps grounds and buildings in good repair, notifies supervisor of issues that may require more skilled level of work, or any unsafe or hazardous conditions that must be addressed. May remove snow, ice, etc. Documents work completed, including date, time, parts utilized, etc. Ensures that all supplies, equipment, tools are treated properly and kept in good working order. Promptly reports breakage and/or loss. Utilizes tools and equipment within safety parameters and adhering to safety precautions as outlined. Communicates with sites regarding work being performed, such as if it is completed, what is still outstanding, etc., so the sites have full understanding of situation. Drives to agency locations on a regular basis, utilizing agency vehicles. Performs related duties as requested. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Valid New York State Driver’s License and must maintain it in good standing Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, residents and their families Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required Six months of related experience is preferred but not required PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
