Professional development opportunity and mentorship A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO The ideal candidate performs skilled manual work that requires a working knowledge of painting practices and methods. Cleans and prepares surfaces that are to be painted, using sandpaper, steel wool, scrapers or soap and water. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler to prepare the surface for painting. Removes lights and other fixtures to prepare the surface for painting. Spreads drop cloths over floors and furniture. Paints interior and exterior walls and ceilings with brushes, rollers, and spray guns. Varnishes, stains, and finishes desks, cabinets, and other furniture. Trims windows and doors. Caulks and glazes windows. Mixes paints, varnishes, shellacs, and enamels. Cleans and stores brushes. Erects and moves scaffolds. Cleans the work areas after the project is completed. Serves as a lead worker on painting assignments. Performs other duties as assigned. Anticipated Hiring Range: $43,100 - $51,800. Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and three years of experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Knowledge of painting methods and procedures. Ability to properly mix paints, etc. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, etc. Ability to access confined spaces. Ability to lift paint cans and other painting supplies. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities
Perform skilled manual painting work including surface preparation, painting interior and exterior walls, and finishing furniture. Serve as a lead worker on painting assignments and maintain clean work areas.
