Position Overview: As a Produce Manager at Pakn’Save Westgate you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our produce department. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, managing a team of produce assistants, and maintaining the highest standards of freshness and quality for our customers. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven record in a manager or 2IC role within the supermarket environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce, including selection, handling, and merchandising.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of SAP.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • A current forklift license would be preferable.

  • Retail experience as a manager in an environment with food.
  • Computer literate and SAP experience.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the produce department, including ordering, stocking, and merchandising of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Ensure the highest quality and freshness of produce items through regular inspections and adherence to food safety standards.
  • Train, develop, and supervise a team of produce assistants, providing guidance and support to achieve department goals.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate best pricing, quality, and delivery terms to maximize profitability.
  • Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste through efficient inventory control practices.
  • Create and execute effective marketing and promotional strategies to drive sales and increase customer engagement.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, inquiries, and special requests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing produce department.
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovations in produce to introduce new products and enhance customer offerings.
