Description

Technical Operations Operate and monitor equipment’s of EAF/LF/CCs & Rolling Mills Water treatment within set parameters of quantity & quality to ensure that Steel making and Rolling Mill production are achieved as planned. Take and record readings of running equipment and daily operating conditions, perform standard data analysis and record all data in specified log sheets according to set operating procedures. Identify and report immediately any problem, discrepancy or abnormality in equipment or process, taking prompt corrective action as appropriate in consultation with the senior technician. Check, control and record chemical dosing for each cooling water system as per the plan. Witness and record all the chemical additions in respective tanks/basins by the chemical contractor personnel. Carry out all the scheduled activities like changeover of equipment, lubrication of the pump’s bearings, cleaning of the suction filters of air compressors, collecting water samples, backwash of super filters, regeneration of softeners, trial run of the equipment after overhauling. Ensure emergency equipment like Diesel Engine driven pumps for Steel making and Rolling Mill and Fire Fighting are regularly checked, run and maintained in order to ensure it is kept in good working order at all times Communicate and coordinate clearly with the Steel Making and Rolling Mill shops for any issues related to the supply of any utilities and also inform/involve the Shift in Charge as required. In case of emergency, take all necessary counter measures and contact appropriate staff as laid down in the operating procedures in order to ensure that any risk to personnel, plant or process operation are minimized. Communicate clearly with operators of the next shift about current plant/equipment operation and conditions and hand over the shift and equipment with full and clear information of the situation. Ensure the persons (maintenance/contractors) working in the respective plant are adhering to the work permit system and are following all the safety precautions mentioned in the permit. Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimised. Carry out routine, on the job equipment maintenance and minor repair and identify and communicate other maintenance/repair needs to the Senior Technician or Shift Supervisor for onward communication to the Utility Maintenance/Electrical Maintenance team. Maintain the cleanliness of the control room and carry out proper housekeeping of the plant Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, LOTO procedures and instructions in order to meet highest standards of operation and to support the achievement of continuous uninterrupted utility supply. Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment. Maintain the cleanliness of the Utility control room and carry out proper housekeeping of the plant. 7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: Minimum Qualifications: Technical Diploma (Mechanical/Chemical) from any reputed institute/university. Minimum Experience: 3-5 years relevant work experience in Utilities gases supply, Compressed air Station and Cooling water treatment plant of Steel Making & Rolling Mill Plants/Process operations Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical): Specific knowledge and understanding in Compressed air Station and Cooling water treatment plant of EF/CC plant & Rolling Mill plant and water quality parameters. Knowledge and understanding of water chemistry and basic gas laws Good knowledge and understanding of Cooling Tower functions. Good knowledge of equipment and/or process parameters and controls. Ability to work in a team environment and sometimes independently with minimal supervision as the task may be from time to time Good use of the English (must) and Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents. Good relationship building skills Ability to scan the external environment and to understand the impact on the business Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment

Responsibilities

The Panel Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring water treatment equipment to ensure production goals are met. They must also perform routine inspections, data recording, and communicate effectively with other teams regarding operational conditions.
