As a Para Transit Driver, you're the friendly face behind the wheel, making sure seniors and individuals with special needs can get to medical appointments, groceries, social outings, be a part of their community! Your Role: You are responsible for delivering exceptional door to door service for passengers who are not able to take tradtional city transit services You are required to provide proactive assistance to passengers in boarding vehicles, maneuvering wheelchairs, securing belts, lifting portable assistive devices, and offering necessary aid throughout the journey Additionally, providing superior customer service to all passengers and assisting with information on fares, schedules, and stops is a crucial aspect of this role You are responsible for performing basic vehicle inspection to ensure the vehicle is in good working order at the start of your shift This is a unionized position Your Profile: You are a safe driver with a clean driving record You can obtain a clean criminal record search with vulnerable sector screening You are a professional driver with a G, B, C or F class license You have excellent customer service skills You are patient, compassionate, and empathtic You are comfortable working around any type of service animal You are capable of working at a fast pace and keeping up with the physical demands of the role (Pushing, pulling, bending and twisting at a fast pace for 8 to 10 hours) You have intermediate to advanced verbal and written language skills (equivalent to B2 to C1 levels. A language and math assessment will be included in the evaluation process) You bring relevant experience from a similar role or have experience assisting individuals with disabilities You have a solid understanding of St. Thomas streets and neighborhoods, with confident navigation skills You have open availability to work days, evenings, and weekends You are comfortable starting as a spare driver Your Schedule: This opportunity is all about flexibility! The para transit service runs 7 days a week including holidays Shifts are a mix of days, evenings, and weekends. The Para Transit service runs Monday to Friday from 5:30am to 10:00pm, Saturdays from 8:30am to 10:00pm, Sundays from 8:30am to 6:00pm Your location: All shifts will begin and end at, 614 Talbot Street in St. Thomas Hourly Rate The rate for this position will be $19.21/hour Apply now, your passengers are waiting!
