Fennemore has an exciting opportunity in our San Diego, California office for a full-time Bankruptcy Litigation Paralegal. This integral role supports our attorneys and clients in complex bankruptcy and insolvency matters across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus in California, Arizona, and Nevada. The position works across debtor, creditor, and fiduciary representations, including trustees and receiverships, and provides substantive support in contested matters and adversary proceedings. The ideal candidate brings meaningful federal bankruptcy court experience and the ability to independently draft first-draft pleadings with minimal supervision. This individual is comfortable managing complex, multi-jurisdictional matters and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. Total Rewards * Competitive Base Salary + Annual Merit Increases * On-the-Spot Monthly Bonus Program * Workplace Flexibility Options * 401k Retirement Plan w/ Employer Match & Profit-Sharing Component * Health, Dental and Vision Coverage + Employer Premium Contribution * Employer-Paid Group Term Life Insurance * Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays * Employee Wellness Program * Employee Assistance Program Core Responsibilities * Draft motions, notices, declarations, and other pleadings in bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings and related state court litigation, where applicable. * Prepare and compile fee applications and supporting documentation. * Conduct claims analysis, review proofs of claim, and assist with objection strategies. * Support debtor, creditor, trustee, and receiver representations. * Assist with Chapter 11 case administration, and exposure to U.S. Trustee reporting requirements, where applicable. * Monitor docket activity and manage deadlines across multiple federal bankruptcy courts. * Prepare and electronically file documents through CM/ECF in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. * Coordinate service, noticing, and compliance with local bankruptcy rules. * Ensure compliance with Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and local rules in: 1. Southern and Central Districts of California 2. All Arizona Bankruptcy Districts 3. All Nevada Bankruptcy Districts * Support contested matters, including adversary proceedings and avoidance actions. * Interface with all levels within the firm and externally with clients and other professional advisors * Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff across offices and jurisdictions, managing competing priorities in a pooled support structure. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal degree from an ABA-approved program with 5+ years of bankruptcy experience, including exposure to debtor, creditor, and fiduciary representations. * Experience drafting motions, fee applications, and related bankruptcy pleadings, and experience with claims analysis and review. * Demonstrated experience e-filing in federal courts (CM/ECF required). * Strong understanding of Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and applicable local rules. * Ability to manage multiple matters across jurisdictions and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications * Litigation background, including experience in adversary proceedings. * Experience supporting trustees and court-appointed receivers. * Multi-state federal court experience, particularly in CA, AZ, and NV. * Experience with billing platforms and time entry in a law firm environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe/Power PDF tools.
