The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

In this role, you will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Civil Law Practice. This role supports the ALS Civil Practice by assisting in legal and non-legal services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. It focuses on employment and workplace discrimination matters, with additional support across areas like fines and tenancy.

  • Manage client intake, monitor referral inboxes, and support client interviews.
  • Provide paralegal and administrative support, including legal research, drafting documents, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate client records, case files, and data entry in management systems.
  • Support Civil law phone lines and coordinate with solicitors for workload distribution.
  • Contribute to process improvements and ensure compliance with ALS policies, values, and legislation.
  • Uphold EEO, WHS standards, and perform additional duties as required.
