The Paralegal provides high level paralegal and administrative support to Enforcement Legal by maintaining and providing accurate and timely information and data to both internal and external stakeholders relating to relevant legal matters and by coordinating legal documents, reporting, database management and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

  • $90,308.00 per annum + 11.5% superannuation
  • Full time, fixed term until 06/07/2026 (parental leave)
  • Melbourne CBD based role (hybrid – 3 days in office)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Providing high quality paralegal and administrative support including but not limited to:
  • Conducting ASIC searches, prior conviction searches, Fieldlink/CRM searches and providing information and statistics regarding current and finalised working case files and prosecutions
  • Drafting legal documents and correspondence, including Charge-Sheet and Summons, costs sheets and Witness Summonses
  • Updating various prosecution databases, reports and spreadsheets and generate reports, as required.
  • Issuing, service and filing of prosecution documents
  • Liaise with the Criminal Coordinator and Registrars of the various courts to manage such issues as listing of cases, adjournments and obtaining Certified Extracts
  • Liaise with Defence solicitors, ensuring material requested is provided in a timely manner, arranging for the inspection of exhibits Contact all relevant witnesses required at court, including police officers, WorkSafe Inspectors and experts.
  • Coordinate the appearance of witnesses at court, including the arrangement of appearance times, travel, accommodation, interpreters, expense reimbursement and video links.
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders informed at appropriate points before, during and after hearings.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies (Process Servers, OPP, and internal Inspectors/Investigators) at appropriate points before, during and after hearings.
  • General administrative support to the Director of Enforcement Legal, including preparation of materials and presentations; liaising with Counsel Clerks, Counsel, Panel Firms, Defence Practitioners, Witnesses and Victims of Crime (where appropriate); processing invoices and preparing purchase orders; overseeing divisional budget; keeping up-to-date critical registers; secretariat functions for key stakeholder meetings and forums.
