Description

Lawstop, a legal aid law practice, seeks a full time Paralegal to assist our Housing or Community Care team. Our office will be based in Peterbourough or Cambridge and hybrid working is available.

The role will be supporting solicitors as required with administration and the progression of casework within your area of expertise

  • Ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and customer care
  • To assist with Legal Aid Agency contract requirements such as funding, billing and compliance

Duties will include
1. Meeting clients (either in person or by video call)
2. Taking detailed instructions
3. Drafting correspondence
4. Drafting legal documents
5. Instructing counsel and experts (such as psychologists/psychiatrists)
6. Making applications for legal aid
7. Liaising with other solicitors
8. Reporting to the Legal Aid Agency
9. Attending court with counsel (either in person or by telephone/video)
You must have:
1. Initiative
2. Time management skills
3. A sense of humour
4. A desire to want to help people
5. The ability to work under pressure
6. Experience working with vulnerable people
Legal aid experience is very desirable.
