Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Paralegal to join the LeoVegas Group legal team, in our office based in Great Park Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
We are a growing team of 20 legal professionals located between Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), Sliema (Malta), Stockholm (Sweden) and Gibraltar.
The group legal team is divided into two sub-teams, the Commercial & IP Unit and the Business & Corporate Unit. As a Paralegal in the team, you would be working across both units including supporting the Director of Legal and Heads of Legal on a number of internal projects which aim to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department.
The role would offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a fast-paced environment and you would be contributing to some crucial objectives and priorities of the legal department.
Your key focus initially would be working on two ongoing transformative projects within the team:
1) A project to migrate all of our contracts and other legal documents to a new contract management system, which is already in progress and at an advanced stage; and
2) A digital litigation log and filing project.
Once the two projects outlined above are complete, you will be involved in delivering further internal projects which will support continuous improvement and drive positive change within the legal department. There will also be the opportunity to get involved in some of the day-to-day work of the team from the outset, including attending meetings with senior team members, gradually expanding the remit of your role with time and as you gain relevant experience. There may also be the opportunity to undertake a training contract and/or to gain relevant experience that would be counted towards qualification under the SQE scheme in due course.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • The contract management project which involves: renaming and reorganising contract folders and documents in accordance with a revised naming convention; migrating existing agreements and other legal documents to a new contract management system (Concord) in a systematic manner; extracting key contract information; inputting key information regarding contract terms into Concord in order to enable accurate business reporting; delivering training to the wider business as the system is rolled out. You will work as part of the Concord project delivery team and attend regular meetings to update on progress.
  • The litigation log management project which involves: reviewing existing case files and documents to extract relevant information and transferring data to a comprehensive litigation log.
  • Maintaining and updating the contract precedents library as well as maintaining, updating, tracking and monitoring of consumer facing terms and conditions.
  • Supporting the qualified lawyers in the team with a variety of administrative tasks including proof reading of contracts, sending contracts for signature, storing contracts or other legal documentation in the contract management system / secure shared drives.
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new suppliers to the Group, including sending out due diligence questionnaires and reviewing responses and supporting identification and other corporate documentation provided by third party suppliers, to ensure a smooth onboarding process, as well as completing any due diligence requests we receive from third parties and authorities.
  • Drafting letters or basic legal agreements using templates, assisting with the preparation of presentation slides, obtaining legal translations etc.
  • Assisting with other projects and tasks as determined by the Director & Heads of Legal.
