Mental Health Paralegal – Hammersmith, London

The Role

• We are currently recruiting paralegals for our Mental Health Department;
• You will be supporting solicitors in advising and assisting people detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 as well as conducting your own caseload;
• The position is based in Hammersmith, London.

The Candidate

• Previous experience in the mental health sector is ESSENTIAL for this role; It is also important that applicants have a genuine interest in and commitment to upholding the rights of detained patients and vulnerable individuals;
• It is preferable that applicants have a full driving license and have use of a car as the hospitals we visit are often remote.

Prospects

• We view this as a long-term appointment with the possibility of a training contract subject to performance;
• Support to become accredited by the Law Society in order to be able to conduct advocacy – subject to performance / commitment.

Salary & Benefits

• Thorough training in law, practice and Legal Aid Agency requirements;
• Hybrid working (minimum of 2 days in the office for supervision / development);
• Annual salary of £23,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) and 20 days holiday.

Pay: £23,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
