DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a talented Paralegal to join Mourant’s General Counsel Team.
In this role, you will be supporting the delivery of best in class legal services across the non-regulated entities within the Mourant group. Including, assisting on all elements of onboarding Mourant’s third-party suppliers, contract review from a legal and regulatory perspective, Non-Disclosure Agreements and Data Protection Agreements, due diligence checks etc.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a candidate with experience in a similar role in a legal environment and holding a relevant legal qualification Relevant paralegal experience (or similar) gained within a law firm or in-house department would be advantageous.

  • Must hold ‘Entitled or Entitled to Work’ status to work in Jersey, Channel Islands
  • A team player who can follow direction and self-manage own workload and deadlines
  • Pragmatic risk management mindset
  • Ability to build strong internal relationships and have the confidence to approach colleagues and ask questions
  • Ability to balance competing demands and good prioritisation skills

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Assisting on projects led by Head of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel to develop protocols and use of technology for client engagement letters, panel terms and third-party supplier contracts
  • Assisting with servicing queries in the GC team, under the direction of the Head of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel
  • Completing risk and governance questionnaires and other due diligence documentation requested by Mourant’s suppliers, intermediaries and clients
  • Assist with maintaining internal precedent banks for preferred legal contractual clauses and third-party stakeholder governance precedent bank
  • Reviewing and maintaining database of panel and special terms with clients and maintaining internal supplier contract register
  • Liaising with the Data Protection Officer to review data processing agreements and other ad hoc data protection queries and maintaining Mourant’s public legal and regulatory notices and disclaimers on the public website
  • Assisting the Risk & Compliance team to ensure that Mourant meets the requirements of the relevant bar counsel or law society in each of its locations
