Description

The Role:
We are looking for a conscientious, self-motivated and hard-working individual to join our small in-house Legal function at Mulberry. You will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of legal matters and to learn, develop and grow under the expertise of our Group General Counsel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general assistance to the Group General Counsel on a wide variety of legal and administrative tasks, including commercial contracts, terms and conditions of trading, IT contracts, data protection issues, trademarks and property leases.
  • Support the Group General Counsel in responding to queries and providing advice on a broad range of legal and contractual matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts, terms and conditions, leases, licences, NDAs and other legal documents, and providing advice and assistance to internal clients.
  • Ensure the accurate filing, diarising, circulating and recording of contracts, agreements and actions.
  • Undertake legal research on a variety of matters, including highlighting new legislation and action or policy changes required.
  • Assist with action against counterfeiters and IP infringers, in particular in relation to online offerings (eg Facebook takedowns).
  • Act as a point of contact in the legal office for enquires in the absence of the Group General Counsel.
  • Support with department administration, such as scanning, follow ups, scheduling and filing.
  • Support with Data Protection and other areas of training.

Team:

  • Work collaboratively with all key stakeholders.

Culture:

  • Embrace and demonstrate the Mulberry values and behaviours: honesty, dynamism, and a community-oriented spirit.
  • Support Mulberry to deliver an inclusive culture, through behaving in a way that is open-minded and respectful towards others, and understanding that your views, opinions, and experiences may not always be shared by your colleagues.
  • Act as an ambassador for Mulberry and communicate positively about the brand.

Sustainability:

  • As a certified B Corp business, it is important to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into your work wherever possible. Support the businesses ‘Five C’s’ strategy in addressing and improving Climate, Cultivation, Craft, Culture and Circularity. Promote a greener, more sustainable future.
  • Support to foster an environment where diversity is embraced and all individuals feel valued, respected and included. Promote equity, empathy and understanding and demonstrate this commitment within your internal and external communities.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong academic background: LLB (essential) and LPC (preferred).
  • Ideally two-three years’ post-qualification work experience in commercial contracts; experience of technology contracts is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to think logically and commercially to find solutions.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn with a flexible approach.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively in order to deliver within specified timescales.
  • Highly organised, meticulous research and drafting skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Knowledge of digital and social media platforms (eg Facebook, eBay etc), e-commerce operations and a good understanding IT terminology.
