JOB OVERVIEW

We have an exciting opportunity to join our highly regarded well established niche firm based in Hoylake within our Mental Health Tribunal department.
We are looking for a full-time mental health tribunal paralegal to support our head of department, who will be working towards MH Panel Accreditation. We are happy to accept applications from graduates who have completed LPC/SQE and wish to work towards a training contract.
The right candidate will be someone who can work well as part of a team, have good communication and good organisational skills. They must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
The role is to work as a part of the team covering a large area of the Northwest of England and North Wales.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys by conducting research, drafting documents, and managing case files. This position requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in various IT applications to ensure efficient workflow within the office.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal in a similar role within a legal environment is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in IT applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail is essential to ensure accuracy in all tasks performed.

Responsibilities
  • Managing own caseload.
  • Advising clients orally, in writing, and by telephone.
  • Drafting documentation and correspondence.
  • Interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing statements.
  • Reviewing expert reports.
  • Handling routine client enquiries and communications.
  • Maintaining a diary.
  • Ensuring file order and time recording.
  • Complying with LAA requirements.
  • Undertaking training and self-development.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation.
  • Maintaining high standards in client work processing.
  • Sign-up clients, advising them of tribunal role and their powers.
  • Preparing files for tribunal hearings.
  • Providing legal advice and support to clients.
  • Representing clients at tribunal and hospital managers hearings.
  • Review of Tribunal decisions.
  • Close files and prepare for billing
