Description:

Why Sparke Helmore?
As an independent Australian firm with a long history and a big heart, we have a rich story to tell. Our spirit is built on the power of relationships with our people, clients and communities.
At Sparke Helmore, you’ll be actively involved as part of a diverse, genuine and friendly team. We’ll help you harness your ambition and take your skills to new heights with exposure to outstanding clients and easy access to exceptional leaders and mentors.
Your story is yours to define. We’d like to be part of it and for you to be part of ours.
We have an exciting opportunity for a casual Paralegal to join our Property team in Newcastle working with Partner, Andrew Ferguson.

About the team and the work

  • This is a rare opportunity for a 4th or 5th year law student to join a high-performing property team and to learn from, and work alongside, the best.
  • Our property team is made up of an accredited specialist, senior associates, associates, junior lawyers, and paralegals. You will join a busy practice working on some of the region’s largest projects and developments and other interesting and varied real estate deals with plenty of people to learn from.
  • The role will give you exposure to a range of property law matters including acquisitions, subdivisions, strata law, mixed-use developments, commercial and industrial developments, staged developments, and contracts.
  • You will be an integral part of our high-performing, collegiate and friendly team by offering support and assistance on a variety of matters and projects.
  • You will be offered ongoing opportunities for professional development and training– as the team grows so will you!

About you

  • Ideally you will be in your 4th or 5th year of your law degree and be able to commit to a minimum of 2 days or more per week on an ongoing basis– we can be flexible with your work and uni schedule.
  • You don’t need experience in property law, but you will need a genuine interest in it– we love it, you should too!
  • You are a team player with an ability to deliver superior client service– if you’ve played team sports and/or worked in hospitality, let’s hear from you.
  • You are an excellent communicator (both verbal and written). You have a high level of attention to detail and organisation skills– our team is fast and accurate, and we need you to be too.
