Responsibilities

THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join the Serious Injury team in our Cardiff office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team, as part of the wider Serious Injury department. You will be responsible for:

  • Speaking with clients on the telephone;
  • Managing new enquiries via email and telephone;
  • Assisting solicitors within the group in all procedures, including obtaining medical records and preparing disclosure, instructing medico-legal experts and counsel, issuing and pursuing court proceedings;
  • Helping to manage a file load of litigated and non-litigated catastrophic personal injury cases;
  • Drafting various documents including witness statements on liability and quantum, instructions to Counsel, particulars of claim and schedules of loss;
  • Gathering evidence such as medical records and details of earnings losses to build up a case;
  • Producing correspondence including instructions to expert witnesses and procedural forms for court;
  • Arranging and attending multidisciplinary meetings, conferences with counsel and joint settlement meetings.

The role will involve communication with clients, experts and third parties via the telephone, email and in person. Excellent inter-personal skills are essential along with excellent client care skills to deal with sensitive issues involving emotional and vulnerable clients. You will also be expected to travel to meet clients and witnesses.
