JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a licensed Paralegal (LSO, in good standing) with 2–3 years of experience handling Landlord and Tenant Board, Small Claims Court, and Provincial Offences matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act, Small Claims Court Rules, and Provincial Offences Act.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Yardi Voyager.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proven experience in a paralegal role or similar position is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail in legal drafting.
  • Proficient in research methodologies and familiar with legal databases such as LexisNexis.
  • Experience with data entry and clerical duties in a legal environment is advantageous.
  • Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file legal documents (e.g., LTB forms, pleadings, motions).
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, and settlement conferences.
  • Manage collections, payment plans, and eviction processes.
  • Liaise with housing authorities, community organizations, and court staff.
  • Maintain accurate legal records and reports.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to gather relevant information for cases.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and correspondence, ensuring precision and adherence to legal formats.
  • Manage case files using iManage, maintaining organization and accessibility of all documents.
  • Assist in preparing for trials by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and other necessary materials.
  • Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for case development.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case activities and deadlines.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing documents with courts, managing calendars, and responding to phone inquiries with professionalism.
  • Proofread all documents for accuracy and clarity before submission or filing.
  • Collaborate with team members on project management tasks to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Attend court and trials.
