Description Administers pre-hospital care within scope of licensure, under the direction of licensed physician, in accordance with established hospital policies/procedures and Illinois Department of Public Health regulations. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Other roles and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalency. Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic and CPR required. Illinois drivers license with no suspensions/revocations within the past three years, or any convictions for reckless driving, speeding (in excess of 15mph over the limit), or driving under the influence within the past five years. EKG course required. Related experience preferred. Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of specialized equipment for all procedures approved by IDPH and/or EMS. Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency/crisis situations. Demonstrated leadership capabilities. Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate ambulance and equipment in a safe manner. Maintains professional appearance in accordance with the department dress code policy. Physical Requirements: Work is of medium to heavy demand. Routine lifting requirements of 100 pounds or more. Standing and walking are required throughout the shift. Sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling are required. Works inside and outside with exposure to extreme weather conditions. Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate ambulance and equipment in a safe manner.
