Schedule: Part Time Shift: Days Location: Various locations in Orlando, FL The role you’ll contribute: The Paramedic is responsible for the provision of care for a patient or an assigned group of patients under the supervision/direction of the Physician, in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. The Paramedic assists with implementation and administration of the patient care process relative to the medical plan of care. The Paramedic uses the skills of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in their patient care delivery. Primary function is the delivery of competent, compassionate, and cost effective patient care. This performance follows established policies, procedures, and protocols under the supervision of the Physician, in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. The Paramedic demonstrates collaborative and professional communication skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The Paramedic strives to advance from novice to expert and become an evidence-based scholar in order to provide optimal patient care and advocate on behalf of his/her patients. The Paramedic serves as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of AdventHealth. S/he is accountable for working within the parameters of the approved scope or practice, all regulatory standards and established policies, protocols and procedures set forth by the Medical Director and designees. The value you’ll bring to the team: Provides quality patient care under the direction of the Physician and in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. Performs and documents accurate reassessments as defined by standards of care and physician orders. Monitors and intervenes in pain management under the delegation of the Registered Nurse. Administers and monitors respiratory therapy in collaboration with respiratory therapy. Performs and documents procedures according to the Paramedic scope defined by the Medical Director, including dressing changes, wound care, blood draws, IV and IO insertion/discontinuation, splinting, cervical stabilization, hemorrhage control, mechanical restraints, and assisting with complex bedside procedures. Administers medications when ordered by the overseeing physician and delegated by the Registered Nurse. Assures patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources. Prioritizes interventions based on patient needs in collaboration with nurse and support staff. Actively participates in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding. Documents interventions in a timely manner. Accepts accountability for problem-solving issues and works with leaders to resolve clinical issues. Participates in shared decision-making, performance improvement activities, and provides input to committees. Performs other duties as assigned. The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: High School Diploma or Equivalent 1+ Work Experience EMT Paramedic certification (EMT-P) Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) Associate degree in Paramedicine Preferred
