Position Overview Department: Emergency Department Schedule: PRN- Rotating Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East - Trussville, Al. Benefits for eligible positions only include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more What You Will Do Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients. Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse. Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate. Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions. Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor preferred. A driver's license valid in the State of Alabama may be required based on departmental need. Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) required. Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Responsibilities

The Paramedic will provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care, and evaluation for patients in the Emergency Department, identifying, intervening, and stabilizing ill or injured patients under medical direction. They must also initiate interventions based on transport team protocols, monitor patient condition, and provide necessary education to patients and families.
