Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health. Responsibilities Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate prehospital medical care. Adapts and adjusts the patient’s care plan according to the patient’s needs in the prehospital setting. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care. Must be able to transport a behavioral health patient utilizing an ambulance or secure car. Documents daily, weekly, and monthly ambulance/secure car checks to ensure proper stock levels of equipment and supplies. Prepares the ambulances by ensuring they are cleaned and in a state of readiness. Performs hospital-based duties such as IV therapy, administration of medications appropriate for individual’s level of EMS certification, intubations, and assists registered nurses in ER and other patient care areas. Qualifications Education: High School graduate or equivalent, current certification at EMT-PM level is required License(s)/Certification(s): Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support & Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications required. Valid Iowa driver’s license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years. No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English, basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. Apply Today!!
