Overview The roles and responsibilities of the EMT Paramedic include personal safety and the safety of others, patient assessment and emergency care; safe lifting and moving, patient transport and transfer, record keeping and data collection, and patient advocacy. Responsibilities Daily pre-run vehicle equipment preparation and inspection; vehicle and office cleaning. Collects and documents all pertinent information. Confirms dispatch information, determines best route to and from call, drives responsibly and safely. Parks ambulance safely and determines additional resources needs, initiates assessment and treatment based on patient needs. Contacts receiving facility and continues on going assessment and treatment as determined by patient needs per protocols and on line medical control. Transfers patient, all records, and information to receiving facility staff. Restocks ambulance, replaces drug boxes and equipment, and completes all reports and data information. Qualifications Education: Current Alabama license as EMT Paramedic/Driver. ACLS, BLS required. PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Experience: None required. Additional Skills/Abilities: Acceptable driver record; capable of working overtime as required; flexible to scheduling to meet the department and hospital staffing needs.
