Responsibilities Job Summary The Paramedic Technician functions semi-independently, under the direction of the Physician, RN, and/or PA-C, as part of the integrated healthcare team. Responsible for providing comprehensive quality patient care in an accurate and timely manner according to established patient standards and practice. Knowledge and necessary skills will be utilized to effectively meet the needs of patients of all age groups and developmental levels. Essential Functions Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, initiation of peripheral intravenous, phlebotomy, eye irrigation, urinary catheterization, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of licensed caregiver. Duties may include administrating medications under the supervision of licensed personnel in accordance with approved medication list. Assisting with patient transport, maintaining a safe environment by cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and turning over rooms as required. Position requires compliance with department specific competencies. Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered. Reinforces patient education under the direction of licensed personnel to ensure the continuum of care. Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members. After training may answer patch phone, under the direction of licensed caregiver. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High School Diploma or GED - Required Experience Graduate of an EMT-P training course approved under Arizona 9 A.A.C. 25, Articles 2, 4, and 5 are required. - Required 1 year Associate Degree, Diploma, or bachelor’s degree in pre-hospital/emergency medical service, CCEMT- - Preferred Licenses and Certifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 180 Days - Required ADHS Paramedic Certification or Arizona State Certified - Required
