Description St. Francis Xavier School in St. Joseph, Missouri, is seeking a full-time paraprofessional educator for its 2026-2027 school year. A paraeducator’s primary role is to offer students an extra level of support and guidance inside and outside of the classroom. This position will work one-on-one with students in our school. Paraprofessionals support the learning, language, therapy needs, and social-emotional well-being of students, so that they can experience inclusive education in the least restrictive environment. This position will report to the principal. Responsibilities: Assist with instructional support: This includes working one-on-one with students, preparing classroom materials and others as needed. Implement activities planned by classroom teacher. Work with students individually, following him/her through the daily schedule. Bridge communication between classroom teacher and student’s parents by providing a weekly progress report outlining assistance/modifications given for specific classes and subject area. Based on child’s SEP (Student Education Plan) and teacher directives, implement modified curriculum activities to meet individual learning goals. Provide for students’ social and emotional needs through respite activities. Maintain records of all activities planned and completed. Attend and participate in professional learning activities as assigned. Encouraging positive peer interactions and social-emotional development Promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging Empowering students to engage in classroom activities Complete other assigned tasks. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred. Experience working with children or special needs population Patience, flexibility, positive attitude Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
