Description Want to make extra money while driving and connecting with others? Voluntary Action Center is seeking part-time Vehicle Operators for our Yorkville, IL location. This position includes both morning and afternoon/evening shifts, with a flexible schedule averaging 20–29 hours per week. What You’ll Do In this role, you’ll operate company vehicles to provide safe and reliable transportation for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and community members promoting independence, improving quality of life, and making a meaningful difference every day. Key Duties Operate agency vehicles safely and courteously in all types of weather. Assist passengers boarding and exiting vehicles, including those using mobility aids. Ensure the safe securement of passengers and equipment. Collect fares, complete route logs, and follow established procedures. Conduct required pre- and post-trip inspections. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing VAC in the community. Qualifications & Requirements Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Illinois driver’s license with a clean driving record. Applicants must successfully complete a DOT physical, background check, and drug screening. Experience in transportation, customer service, or a helping profession is preferred. Successful candidates are reliable, safety-minded, and detail-oriented, with strong communication and customer service skills. They should be comfortable assisting passengers with mobility devices and work well both independently and as part of a team. This position requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., sit or stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions while operating agency vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts, radios, and tablets.
