POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychotherapist or Social Worker to join our team as a Parent Coach at our Beamsville, ON, location or virtually. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing in-person or virtual therapeutic services to children and adolescents and their families, addressing various mental health issues. This role involves working closely with families, schools, and other community resources to support the holistic well-being of our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Psychotherapy or Social Work.
  • Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
  • Experience working with children and parents is a must.
  • Clinical skills must exceed CBT and solution-focused therapy.
  • Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities, including CBT, play therapy, and family therapy.
  • Able to work within the parent-child relationship using an attachment-based framework for therapy.
  • Able to assess, conceptualize, and conduct risk assessments on individuals supported.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Additional training in perinatal mental health is an asset.
  • Professional, mature, warm, and experienced in working with parents and children.
  • Neufeld Training is an asset.
  • Infant Mental Health training is an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural competency in therapy.
  • Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques (e.g., trauma-informed care, art therapy).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and caregivers.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as internal family systems, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, attachment-based therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy, or other approaches.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support the child’s therapeutic progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and treatment plans.
  • Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of children within the community.
