We are looking for a dedicated parent to join our governing board as a Parent Governor. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our school and ensuring the very best outcomes for our pupils. What do governors do? Governors don’t manage the school day-to-day – instead, they provide oversight and guidance for the school’s long-term development. This includes financial management, strategic planning, and holding school leaders to account. What does a Parent Governor do? As a parent governor, you’ll: ✔ Work as part of the board to make sure it carries out its duties effectively. ✔ Bring a valuable parental perspective to discussions and decision-making. ✔ Contribute your skills and experiences for the benefit of all children in the school. (Please note: Parent Governors do not represent or speak on behalf of the parent body.) Who we’re looking for: We’d love to hear from parents who are: Committed to improving outcomes for children. Curious, willing to learn, and keen to develop new skills. Confident in bringing their own expertise and ideas to the table. Skills that would be especially valuable include: Finance • SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) • Health & Safety • Data analysis • HR • Legal expertise What’s the commitment? Full Governing Board meetings: 6 per year (one evening per half term, 17:15–19:15 at school). Committee meetings: Staff & Resources Committee and Students & Curriculum Committee, each meeting once per half term. Additional involvement may include specific responsibilities linked to your skills or interests. ✨ No prior experience is needed – just a commitment to learning and making a difference. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Previous experience in finance or administration is desirable but not required.
