We are looking for amazing swim instructors interested in leading our Parent and Me classes! Job Title: Swim Lesson Instructor Reports to: Aquatics Leadership Team and Deck Supervisor Position Summary: Under the direction of the Aquatics Leadership Team, Special Services Swim Instructors implement swimming instruction curriculum for infant and toddler swim classes with active parent participation. Instructors will guide parents in safely introducing their children to the aquatic environment, focusing on water comfort, bonding, and foundational swim and safety skills. Essential Functions: Instructs Parent & Me swim classes in accordance with Lakeland Hills YMCA guidelines. Leads fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons that promote water confidence, comfort, and early aquatic skills. Coaches parents/caregivers on how to support their child in the water, demonstrating proper techniques and providing hands-on guidance. Builds positive, trusting relationships with children, parents/guardians, and staff. Ensures the safety and well-being of all class participants at all times. Qualifications Ability to instruct in the water while interacting with both children and adults. Must enjoy working with young children and their caregivers and demonstrate patience, warmth, and energy. Good communication skills, especially with parents/guardians. Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or swim instruction preferred by not required. Must be at least 16 years of age. Working Conditions: Ability to lift and assist small children (up to 40 lbs) in the water. Must be comfortable bending, kneeling, and engaging physically with young swimmers during class. Requires extended periods of time in the swimming pool. Ability to respond swiftly and calmly in emergencies. Must be able to communicate effectively with parents/guardians and provide consistent feedback and encouragement.
