PARENTING EDUCATOR (LEVEL 1 OR 2, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS)

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in families’ lives and thrive in a dynamic, supportive environment? Parenting Now is seeking a Parenting Educator to facilitate parenting programs that support positive parenting practices and build strong parent-child relationships. This position may be hired at level 1 or level 2, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Parenting Educator plays a key role in delivering parenting groups and providing education and resources to parents and caregivers. This position helps strengthen families by promoting self-sufficiency, increasing knowledge of child development, and improving parenting skills.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Extensive knowledge of child development and parenting strategies
  • Group facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Flexibility and acceptance of different parental lifestyles and values
  • Understanding of cloud-based document management, collaboration, and file sharing

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS (LEVEL 2)

  • CHW (Community Health Worker) or THW (Traditional Health Worker) Certification

DESIRED EDUCATION, ABILITIES AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS Degree in child development, education, counseling or related field
  • Bi-lingual for Spanish and English, including writing skills
  • Professional experience working with young children
  • Experience working with low income and highly stressed individuals, and families involved with ODHS
  • Experience working with the Make Parenting A Pleasure, SE curriculum
  • Parenting or similar lived experience
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar)

DESIRED EDUCATION, ABILITIES AND/OR EXPERIENCE (LEVEL 2)

  • Experience working with Connect Oregon

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Group Facilitation: Facilitate on-site and off-site parenting groups using Parenting Now’s core curricula, and prepare for and manage all aspects of group delivery (materials, snacks, logistics).
  • Administration: Maintain accurate and timely paperwork, including attendance, evaluations, and contact documentation, upholding confidentiality and compliance with mandated reporting laws.
  • Maintain Communication: Communicate with clients in between sessions/groups for reminders, support, and referrals.
  • Collaborate and Learn: Participate in required meetings and training, stay current on research in child development and parenting education, and embrace opportunities for professional growth and development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (LEVEL 2)

  • Parent Coaching: Provide outreach and one-on-one support through the Parent Coaching program. Conduct parent coaching sessions, maintain a client schedule, and document sessions including data collection. Coordinate referrals using Connect Oregon.
