QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and training or experience with office skills and the use of productivity software.
  • The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education require the following qualifications:
  • Certification and a four-year degree in one of the following:
  • Certification and a four-year degree in one of the following:
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Early Childhood Special Education
  • Elementary Education
  • Vocational Home Economics or Family and Consumer Sciences
    And demonstrated the ability to working with young children and their parents

    OR

  • A two-year associate degree or two-year certificate program in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;

    OR

  • Sixty college hours and two years’ experience in a program working with young children and their parents;

OR

  • Five years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents;

Responsibilities
  • Contact parents in a professional manner to schedule visits and screenings.
  • Respond to email and return calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality through all types of correspondence and communications.
  • Organize parents and visit materials.
  • Maintain student files and assure accuracy, completeness, and overall quality.
  • Maintain an organized schedule in order to provide well-prepared visits to families.
  • Work closely with other staff at the Franklin County Co-Op, the Special Education Office, the PAT Coordinator, and other Parent Educators.
  • Communicate with staff at the Franklin County Co-Op to ensure that complete Early Childhood Special Education referrals are received. Complete necessary follow-ups.
  • Participate in identification and recruitment activities for the PAT Program.
  • Attend and assist with yearly Advisory Committee Evaluation of Parent Education Services for Families with Children Prenatal to Kindergarten to meet DESE and PATNC obligations.
  • Effectively communicate services that can be provided through Parents as Teachers to parents.
  • Greet and assist in a friendly, professional manner those who enter or call the Parents as Teachers Office.
  • Provide data use to assist with preparation of DESE reports.
  • Maintain Visit Tracker record and child files.
  • Complete mileage and time sheets and submit to the Program Coordinator.
  • Completed developmental screening protocol and Visit Tracker Screening Data for all children 6 months to 3 years.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
  • Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attend trainings to complete yearly recertification.
  • Complete Parent Educator Self-Evaluation.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Parents as Teachers is a classified salary position and pay is determined by the number of visits conducted with families. This position allows for full-time employee benefits.
    EVALUATION: Each employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisor(s) on a regular basis according to evaluation procedures established by the Board of Education. Evaluations will be based on general expectations for all employees, and the specific responsibilities of the position being evaluated.
    PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 25 lbs. as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
