Description
Description Develops and coordinates overall volunteer programs. Design, develop, and implement a diversified nature and recreation program schedule. Performs various activities associated with the care, maintenance, and development of the park. INTERNAL POST DATES: Thursday, March 5, through Friday, March 13, 2026. RATE OF PAY: $22.97 per hour Interested applicants should apply and submit a résumé by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, or closely related field, and a minimum of one to three years supervisory experience, including programming and visitor services or equivalent. Excellent visitor service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Designs, plans, and conducts orientation and additional training for volunteers, interns, and seasonal employees. Supervises the work of volunteers. Works closely with the park manager regarding projects, and planning and development of programs and events; coordinates and conducts educational programs to the public community and professional and educational organizations. Designs develop and implement a diverse program schedule. Designs and prepares promotional flyers, brochures, posters, bulletin boards, exhibits, displays, and other related material. Writes program descriptions, newsletter articles, etc., and ensures timely submission. Represents the park district and maintains good public relations with park visitors, neighbors, and adjoining property owners. Handles minor complaints. Develops partnerships with local school and civic groups (i.e., scouts, 4-H). Works with local elected government officials and attends public meetings. Provides information and assistance to park visitors; enforces rules and regulations; responds to accidents and emergencies and administers first aid, and ensures all reports are submitted in a complete and timely manner. Performs administrative and clerical tasks and activities to assist with the efficient operation of the facility or Park District. Originates correspondence; prepares reports; updates and maintains records. Uses a variety of office and programming equipment (e.g., computer, various computer programs, fax machine, copier, cash register, slide, overhead projector, PowerPoint, etc.). Schedules and prepares facility and park for public use, special events, and functions. Coordinates and performs facility, park, and equipment maintenance and upkeep. Opens and closes parks as needed. Performs and participates with special projects and related duties as apparent or assigned. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
