PARKS AND GARDENS COORDINATOR

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a committed and solution focussed resilient individual who can lead and motivate a large diverse team. You should have strong supervisory skills in maintenance and construction practices within a parks and gardens (or similar) area. Demonstrated experience in delivering capital works and contractor management is a must.
The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $3,602-$4,054 gross per fortnight plus superannuation and allowances which equates to an annual salary of $93,667-$105,419 gross plus superannuation and allowances (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare and implement scheduled and preventative maintenance works programs for parks and gardens assets in accordance with best practise, statutory requirements and service levels
  • Coordinate resources to ensure that routine maintenance programs and responses to works requests are carried out efficiently
  • Manage the employment lifecycle and management practises for crew members within Parks and Gardens, coordinating team members to achieve agreed work plans, providing support to Supervisors and Team Leaders to address and respond to arising staff matters
  • Undertake contractor management functions, including procurement, engagement and supervision
  • Coordinate delivery of nominated capital works projects in accordance with design specifications and cost estimates
  • Ensure customer requests and enquiries are assessed, relevant stakeholder liaison is undertaken and works completed within timeframes
  • Assist the Manager Recreation Services in monitoring expenditure against budget allocation, providing input in budget preparation and project estimates
  • Effectively manage the maintenance, repair and replacement of horticulture equipment and facility assets ensuring that they are properly maintained, operated, and stored appropriately to maximise efficiency and safety. Adhere to all servicing requirements prescribed by Council’s fleet department.
  • Coordinate the condition assessment program of Councils public tree assets, applying risk mitigation obligations to achieve Councils policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the operations and maintenance of Council’s cemetery facilities and services/memorials
  • Provide advice to Council, Council staff and the public on horticultural/landscaping matters
  • Oversee the development, implementation and ongoing review of proactive inspection and maintenance systems and forward works planning for Councils parks and garden assets
  • Assist the Manager Recreation Services with the development, implementation and ongoing review of quality, risk, asset, safety and environmental management systems relevant to parks and gardens
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with bookings and events, providing detailed information to the Manager Recreation Services as required
  • Commit to ongoing professional development for individual, team, and organisational benefit
  • Perform additional duties within skill level as directed by the Manager Recreation Services.
