Description

Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Part-time Accounting Specialist to join our team and contribute to our financial success.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Part-Time Accounting Support position assists the Accounting Department with the daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting functions of the Credit Union. This position is responsible for accurate data entry, reconciliations, and maintenance of accounting records to ensure compliance with Credit Union Policies, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process daily general ledger entries, including posting of share/loan transactions and ACH/wire transfers.
  • Assist in balancing daily cash letters, ATM settlements, and card program activity.
  • Reconcile and monitor various general ledger accounts, including suspense and clearning accounts.
  • Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related journal entries (if applicable).
  • Support preparation of daily, monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting files (electronic and paper)
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures, including preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in member or general ledger accounts.
  • Respond to internal inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with preparation of documents and reports for audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required, coursework or degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a financial institution.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Bank/Credit Union operations, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong attention of detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of member and Credit Union information.
