ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT | ONSITE (12 HRS/WEEK) | PART-TIME | WEST SUSSEX

Steady hours, meaningful work, and a friendly team who’ll actually know your name.
We’re looking for an organised, detail-friendly person to join us part-time at a well-established care home in Horsham. It’s a hands-on role that supports the financial nuts and bolts of the place – from managing ledgers to helping run payroll. You’ll be based onsite, working around 12 hours a week (currently across three days, though we can be a bit flexible).
Some weeks might be quieter, but during payroll or year-end, you might need to chip in a bit more. If you like variety and have a knack for numbers, read on.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep the sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers ticking over using Sage 50.
  • Reconcile bank statements and flag anything that looks off.
  • Help with monthly payroll calculations – rotas, holidays, sickness.
  • Run month-end routines and produce management reports.
  • Assist with year-end accounts prep (including stock and capital adjustments).
  • Manage petty cash and residents’ welfare accounts.
  • Store and safely destroy old financial records in line with policy.
  • Be a backup for the Admin Assistant when needed.
  • Support wider admin tasks and muck in when emergencies arise.

What You’ll Need

  • Solid experience with Sage 50 and Sage Payroll.
  • A careful eye – you spot the details others miss.
  • Good with spreadsheets and happy reconciling accounts.
  • Comfortable working solo but willing to lend a hand across the team.
  • Able to handle sensitive data responsibly.
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime at month-end or payroll periods.
